REFLECTIONS
Experience
The overall experience of exploring typography has been a valuable learning
journey. I discovered how small details like spacing, alignment and type
structure can greatly affect communication and design. The most interesting
is task 3 in experiment by creating my own typeface helped me understand the
complexity behind font construction from sketching to digital execution.
Although it was challenging especially balancing positive and negative
space, when making compound path and export to ttf file, it pushed me to be
more patient and observant. This experience has strengthened my design
thinking and inspired me to further explore typography in creative and
meaningful ways.
Observation
I realized the good typography takes time and careful planning. Managing
time well is important because designing letters and layouts is not as quick
as it seems. I also noticed that how the design elements are place that
really affects the final look and learn getting feedback from others helped
me improve my work and typography can design to play around.
Findings
The design process takes a lot of trial and error. Even though I failed many times, each step helped me learn and improve for my exploration in design. The experimental task also boosted my creativity and the design theory gave me the opportunity to create new things which also allowed me to learn a lot and apply my designs to the real world. This experience will definitely help me do better in future projects.
